(This is the game icon that I got from the freeware version of OneShot. I don't know if the game icon for the remake is a little different.)

Template:Game Infobox OneShot is a game developed in a modified version of RPG Maker 2003 called RPG Tsukuru 2003 by Eliza Velasquez and Nightmargin, released on June 30th, 2014. You play the role of a god who must guide the protagonist, Niko, through a strange world inhabited by robots, with the ultimate goal of saving the world and returning Niko home. A being known as the Entity will break the fourth wall in multiple ways, from opening error messages addressing the player's name to changing the desktop background. If you manually close the game's window or quit the game, the Entity kills Niko and ends the game, hence the title OneShot. In the Steam version, closing the game manually instead saves the game, and refraining from doing so through the entire playthrough earns you the achievement "Oneshot", a reference to the original version.

Saving the game is done by resting at the beds found in the game's world. Going to bed closes the game automatically, and upon opening the game, you are greeted by a dream sequence that entails how Niko used to live before being mysteriously brought to this world.

The game was made in a month for the 2014 Indie Game Maker Contest, and was remade and extended by the original team with the addition of GIRakaCheezer in 2016 in RPG Maker XP and published by Degica. The features added include the ability to save the game by closing the window, additional playthroughs, and more permanent consequences.

Summary

You are to guide a child through a mysterious world on a mission to restore it's long dead sun.

...Of course, things are never that simple.

The world knows you exist.

The consequences are real.
