The Old World was the real world that The Author, Rue, Cedric, and Proto lived in. Not much information is known of the Old World, as The Author never speaks of it directly and only small bits and pieces of info are given from the other three inhabitants. When the Old Sun was shattered, the Author attempted to preserve the Old World with code, thus creating The World Machine and The World.
