George is the head librarian of the library in Refuge. She has six different personalities that the Player can possibly meet, correlating to the six faces of a standard die.

Bios[]

In OneShot: World Machine Edition, George's bio depends on the resulting face.

In the Steam version of World Machine Edition, George's head is not generated until the moment they enter her archival room. If the Player is attempting to encounter a specific George face in order to unlock a specific bio, upon seeing George for the first time, they can force-close the entire game application (do not use the in-game feature) and re-open the game to be restored to their last auto-save location. At this point, they can enter George's archival room to essentially re-roll her face.

George 1[]

George is the fantastic head librarian of the Refuge library. Apart from managing all of the library's many resources and services, this also means she's in charge of publishing The Author's many manuscripts. It's a big responsibility, but there's no-one better suited to the task.

The best way to describe George would be to ask someone to imagine meeting a gold medalist, at the sport of being a librarian, that also refers to themselves in the third person.

George 2[]

George is the exasperated head librarian of the Refuge library. Apart from managing all of the library's many resources and services, this also means she's in charge of publishing The Author's many manuscripts. It's a lot of work, and it doesn't leave George much patience to spare.

The best way to describe George would be to ask someone to picture a novelty mug that says "Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee"... that has only ever been filled with water.

George 3[]

George is the distraught head librarian of the Refuge library. Apart from managing all of the library's many resources and services, this also means she's in charge of publishing The Author's many manuscripts. It's a lot of pressure, and George often feels completely overwhelmed.

The best way to describe George would be to imagine a stuffed animal falling forward forever down an infinite flight of stairs.

George 4[]

George is the enthusiastic head librarian of the Refuge library. Apart from managing all of the library's many resources and services, this also means she's in charge of publishing The Author's many manuscripts. It's a great opportunity for George to share her passion for literature, and read all the latest books.

The best way to describe George would be to think of a dog that always wants to show everyone its favourite toy, but the toy is books and the dog is a librarian and also not a dog but still having a good time.

George 5[]

George is the caring head librarian of the Refuge library. Apart from managing all of the library's many resources and services, this also means she's in charge of publishing The Author's many manuscripts. It's an important job, and George is more than happy to be able to help so many people in the community through her work.

The best way to describe George would be to ask someone to picture a warm towel fresh out of the dryer.

George 6[]

George is the head honcho of the library. Y'know, the one in the Refuge? Not only does she help the library run smooth as butter, she's also in charge of publishing for the big man himself: The Author. It's a pretty chill job all things considered.

If you're wondering what George is like to hang with, just picture someone who's both the coolest cat... AND the hottest dog. Ya dig?

Appearance[]

George is a woman with a die-shaped head. The die dots are purple. She wears a red cap with a white feather sticking out of it. Her white short-sleeved t-shirt has a purple collar and purple cuffs. It is covered over with a teal overall dress.

  1. Quite egocentric and cooperative. Speaks in a poetic or narrative manner and usually talks in the third person.

George was created by the Author as an NPC for the World Machine. She appears to be dedicated to someone who believed in the multiverse theory and compared it to rolling a die, hence George's die-shaped head. She has worked with the Author, acting as the editor and publisher of his books before he disappeared from The World, although some of his manuscripts seem to have continued to appear out of nowhere. The reason for this is unknown.

Plot[]

Main Story[]

At the library, Niko asks George how they can enter the Tower, but she is unaware of how to do so. She hints that it is possible that the instructions could be recorded within a book of some type. Niko presents the strange journal to George, and she offers to translate it while Niko takes a nap. When Niko returns after their nap, George offers the transcript of the available pages, noting that the remaining pages were torn out. She is unsure of the meaning of the "window" in the transcript, though she feels that the Player will understand.

When George learns that Niko only has two of the three pieces of the previous sun, she gives them her die, which glows with yellow phosphor. She wishes them good luck on their adventure.

Solstice Update[]

At the library, Kip introduces Niko to George. George mentions that Cedric ran off with one of her books, but allowed it since it seemed to be an emergency. Niko insists on leaving the library, but George advises against it, feeling that it is too dangerous for them, and also that it is pointless since bringing back the world's sun will not make the squares go away. However, Niko gives a motivating speech that they are determined to save the world despite its decay and despite the loss of so many people, which convinces George to allow Niko to leave.
